1st January. A day of new beginnings.
New year resolutions, destined to fail and every reason not to start a new journey.
But to hell with all the reasons I shouldn’t start this and on to the reasons I should.

Being terrified to get on the scales for the last 3 months, I faced them yesterday. I’m the largest I’ve ever been.

This blog is about being accountable.

I stood on those scales and saw over 100kg  for the first time ever. But not just 100kg, I saw 105!
105kg, that’s 16st 7lb or 231lb. Doesn’t matter how I write that, it’s awful and I never want to see it again.
So, decision made, this is the year I will start betting on myself. If I won’t, who will? So I’ve joined two dietbets.  The idea that if i meet my target, I share the winners pot.  It’s not “first past the post” it’s about hitting your personal goals. If you hit your target, you win. And http://dbet.me/GG0esH this is a 1 month bet to lose 4% of my body weight in a month.  I’m determined not to lose a penny while I lose lots of pounds! I’ve taken two photos to start with and will update my photos regularly in the hope I’ll be able to see the to keep me motivated.  Reminds me of when I was taking monthly photos of my bump while pregnant... I’ll be hoping for the bump to get smaller this time though!

It’s hard to start something like this publicly but I know me. If I don’t I’ll give up and that’s not an option.

Why do I want to lose this weight?

  1. I  want to wear my engagement and eternity rings again.
  2. I want to be able to walk without my thighs chafing and ending up in excruciating pain for days.
  3. I want to reach my feet to put on my socks without having to turn my leg sideways on the bed.
  4. I want to reach down without my tummy getting in the way.
  5. I want to look in the mirror and not see a fat person looking back.
  6. I want my clothes to fit better.
  7. I want to go into a shop and buy clothes in a “normal” size without heading to the larger size section.
  8. I want more energy.
  9. I want my confidence back.
  10. I want to feel good about myself again.
Taken January 1st 2019 for my 1st Dietbet  - I’m trying not to hate it too much. It’s my inspiration to change. I officially sign up for the second one in a day or so and will post additional photos then (side and back views).
So with all this written down, I will start working towards my goals now.
